After a Ruptured Brain Aneurysm, Lotus Health AI Gave Robert Control of His Health Data

Robert

Sacramento, CA

Key Moments

1

Survived a ruptured brain aneurysm, ICU stay, three surgeries, and six angiograms.

2

Had pre-aneurysm symptoms initially thought to be allergies; believes Lotus AI might have flagged these patterns for further review.

3

Unified all health records from multiple providers into one secure source with Lotus AI.

4

Used Lotus Health AI to surface undiscussed diagnoses and lab trends — like possible pre-diabetes and high blood pressure — and prepare better questions for his doctors.

5

Tracked blood pressure improvement in Lotus Health AI, which showed normal readings and informed his discussion about stopping medication.

Robert’s Full Story

In 2023, Robert experienced a ruptured brain aneurysm (subarachnoid hemorrhage), a type of bleeding in the space around the brain that affects roughly 30,000 Americans each year. Although relatively rare, subarachnoid hemorrhage is a leading cause of sudden, severe neurological decline in adults, with nearly half of survivors experiencing long-term health effects and the need for ongoing, complex care. Approximately 50% of ruptures are fatal, and about 15% of patients die before they even reach the hospital. Of those who survive, roughly two-thirds (66 %) live with permanent neurological deficits—problems with speech, mobility, or everyday cognition that can keep them from returning to normal life.

After three weeks in the ICU and a series of brain surgeries, Robert’s life shifted from routine wellness to regular appointments, lab tests, and new uncertainties. He describes this transition as moving from “hardly any medical history” to “being swamped with doctor visits and things I’d never had to think about before.”

Looking back, Robert remembers his weeks of symptoms—“an ongoing headache, constant nasal drainage, and blockage in my right ear”—which were initially dismissed as allergies. “I wish I’d had Lotus then. It might have flagged the risk before it became an emergency.”

Organizing a New Health Reality

Facing a flood of new data and medical demands, Robert began using Lotus Health AI, an iOS app designed to centralize and analyze health records using artificial intelligence: “For the first time, I could see all of my health history in one place. Even my primary care provider can’t do that—everything’s always scattered.”

Lotus Health AI as a Clinical Partner

Robert’s experience quickly evolved from record-keeping to discovery. “I’ll spend maybe 15 minutes with my doctor, and there’s only so much advice they can give,” he explains. “With Lotus, I can ask any question—about lab trends, symptoms, even odd things like a bruise that isn’t healing—and get a full report right away.”

One of the most practical changes, Robert notes, is the way Lotus Health AI flags issues that might otherwise be missed. “It’s found fluctuating glucose, possible pre-diabetes, changes in blood counts—stuff that helps me focus my next appointment.” He adds, “Sometimes, Lotus has told me things my doctor wrote in my chart but never mentioned to me directly, like high blood pressure.”

“If I notice something off, like a bruise that won’t heal, or I want to see if my blood pressure is trending up, Lotus can review all my uploaded measurements and instantly flag issues or trends. Sometimes, it’s found things—like elevated glucose or subtle changes in my bloodwork—that my care team missed, or only documented in passing.”

Making the Most of Every Appointment

Every morning, Robert receives a batch of health insights that synthesize deep discoveries across his EHR data and wearables. Robert is able to make these discoveries practical by chatting about them with Lotus Health AI. Now, he approaches each medical visit more prepared.

“Before, I might forget half the questions I wanted to ask. Now, I get a summary from Lotus and come in with a list. My appointments are more focused, and my doctor is able to give better advice because we’re on the same page.”

The AI’s ongoing monitoring is especially important for conditions that require longitudinal attention. After being treated for prostate cancer in his early fifties, Robert relies on Lotus to keep an eye on his PSA levels. “For the first time, my PSA, blood pressure, and every post-op lab live in one timeline that I control.”

Robert notes that Lotus is different from simply Googling symptoms: “I know my doctor isn’t a fan of patients self-diagnosing online, but Lotus works off my real records, so the feedback is actually relevant to my health history. That’s a huge step up.”

The Futuristic Vision of a Patient Portal

Robert compares Lotus Health AI to popular health portals: “A lot of people use MyChart, but it’s mainly for scheduling and messaging. Lotus is proactive. The AI draws on medical literature, finds patterns, and lets you upload your own data like blood pressure readings.”

Robert has the ease of mind knowing that every response Lotus Health AI provides is backed by a knowledge base of over 3 million medical research publications: "It’s basically training an agent on my entire medical history and every textbook ever written."

While Robert acknowledges initial hesitation about sharing sensitive data, his experience with Lotus’s security and privacy practices reassured him. “It’s like sharing with any doctor, but I get more value back. My information stays private, and the benefits—insights, early detection, peace of mind—are real.”

A Doctor in My Pocket

“Lotus has changed the way I manage my health. It’s a doctor in my pocket, helping me prepare for every visit and giving me insights I wouldn’t have otherwise. For anyone facing a sudden health crisis, or just trying to stay on top of things as you get older, that makes a real difference.”

In Robert’s Own Words

“After my brain aneurysm, Lotus Health AI brought all my records into one place and helped me prepare for every doctor visit.”

“Lotus Health AI told me I had high blood pressure and times I was pre-diabetic. My doctors didn’t tell me.”

“Every time I get a PSA result or a lab update, I know Lotus Health AI is reviewing it — even if I don’t ask.”

“It’s like having a doctor in my pocket that works with my care team to make visits more impactful.”
